Make-A-Wish Foundation Season of Wishes

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin has been granting wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses since 1984.  Since then, the foundation has helped these families by granting over 3000 wishes.  The wishes that these children make can be anything they want to do such as take a trip to Disney World, go on a shopping spree, get a room makeover, or just simply meet one of their favorite celebrities.  As a non-profit organization, this foundation often reaches out to the community for donations and financial support to ensure that they may grant as many wishes as possible for the children in need.
One way the foundation reaches out to the community is through their events during the Season of Wishes.  Throughout the holidays, Make-A-Wish will be offering ample ways for people to open up their hearts and contribute to the cause.  They will be selling things such as 2012 calendars and holiday cards for businesses or individuals to purchase in support of the foundation.  There will also be promotions going on through their national partners such as Panera Bread and Macy's with a toy drive and letters to Santa.
If you would like to learn more or want to get involved with the foundation, visit the website at wisconsin.wish.org.  Make-A-Wish is always looking for new people to volunteer or help sponsor their events.  Businesses are encouraged to become sponsors as well as individuals who want to open their hearts.  Every wish child deserves to get their wish.  Why not help?

Miley Joking about Drugs

The use of drugs is no foreign concept in the world of celebrities.  With a world full of fame, money, and freedom, it's no wonder why it is so easy for young celebrities to get caught up in the use of drugs.  Unfortunately, there are certain celebrities who have made their personas synonymous with the usage of drugs such as Lindsey Lohan, Robert Downey Jr., Courtney Love, just to name a few.  The media is constantly exposing celebrities who have clear addiction problems.  There comes a certain expectation with celebrities who are infamous for partying and causing problems to have the inevitable drug problem.  However, it is always a shock to society when an "American sweetheart"such as Miley Cyrus gets caught in the middle of a drug scandal.
Miley Cyrus found her big break when she became the star of the Disney hit series, "Hannah Montana."  From there, her fame skyrocketed and she became a hit pop star. Her target audience was mainly younger girls who looked up to her as a wholesome, good-willed role model in this world of celebrity corruption.  In 2010, this pop sensation found herself in the middle of a drug scandal.  She was caught smoking a drug called Salvia.  Salvia is a hallucinogen that can make it nearly impossible for people to tell the difference between fantasy and reality.  Salvia is not federally classified as an illegal drug, therefore leaving Cyrus free of any legal consequences.  Although this incident did not put Cyrus in the best light to her fans, it quickly blew over and her success continued.
This speed bump in Cyrus' past got brought up once again when a new video of the teen celebrity surfaced this past Sunday.  In the video, while Cyrus was presented with a Bob Marley cake for her 19th birthday, she called herself a "stoner." She remarked to all of her friends,"You know you're a stoner when your friends make you a Bob Marley cake -- you know you smoke way too much f***in' weed."  Her close friend Kelly Osbourne quickly made a joke about her having a Salvia problem and not a marijuana problem.  However, as soon as the video went viral, it had people talking. Cyrus tried to salvage her reputation by announcing that the remark was made as a joke and was completely sarcastic.  In a world where drugs can be right at a person's fingertips, it isn't very smart to make jokes about drug problems.  For some, it is a very dangerous reality.  And when a celebrity's main fan base consists of young girls, one can bet that a sarcastic comment about smoking weed will not be taken very lightly.

"Baby Biebs" a daddy?

It is no secret that the young, pop singing sensation Justin Bieber is winning the hearts of fans all over the world.  He pulls at the heart strings of girls from as young as elementary school to women as old as the mothers that buy his CDs for their daughters' birthday.  His image is innocent and wholesome. We've seen him grow from a little boy singing in the park into the ultra successful (yet still young) entertainer he's become today.  Justin Bieber is known as the boy your mother would want you to bring home for dinner.  The last thing people would expect to see happening with star is a pregnancy allegation.
Justin Bieber, only 17 years old, has recently been accused as being the father to 20 year old Mariah Yeater's three month old child.  She has demanded a paternity test to prove that Bieber's denial of the accusation is false.  At first, the Bieber team was not in support of giving into this proposal, as it would hurt his innocent image to give anyone the idea that he might have been guilty of sleeping with Yeater.  However, Bieber has come around and agreed to take the paternity test as soon as he returns from his trip to Europe.  Team Bieber does, however, plan on pursuing legal action against Yeater for her "malicious, defmatory, and demonstrably false claims."
Despite the fact that Bieber may not be the father of this child, it still will affect how the public looks at him from this point on.  There has already been more rumors and jokes at Bieber's expense buzzing around social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook.  Whether Yeater is telling the truth or not, people will continue with this suspicion of Bieber's innocence solely based on the fact that it has created such an issue.  If Bieber truly knew he could not be the father (because he had never met, let alone slept with the 20 year old like he claims) then there would be no need to create such a stir about a paternity test.

Celebrity Infidelity

It is getting more and more difficult for celebrities to stay loyal in their marriages.  In a world of fame and riches, temptations have a way of getting the best of a person.  Celebrity couples also battle the issue of trying to keep their personal affairs private from the media and press.  When a celebrity spouse is caught cheating, one can bet that news will be on the front page of the tabloids the very next morning.
The latest scandal that has everyone talking is how Ashton Kutcher has allegedly cheated on his wife, Demi Moore. This A-list celebrity couple has been married for six years and has publicly been seen as being very happy together.  Although, maybe everyone has got it all wrong.  Ashton was supposedly caught red-handed with a 25 year old blonde.  The 15 year age gap between Ashton and Demi has got experts thinking that Demi might not be able to offer Ashton what he really wants anymore (aka kids of his own), thus causing him to explore his other options.  However, even after the allegations of Ashton's adultery have become public, both Demi and Ashton have been spotted still wearing their wedding rings and remaining in good spirits.
Up until recently, this couple has rarely been seen as a front page story of all the celebrity gossip magazines and tabloids.  Unfortunately, the media has a way of picking up a story like this and running with it.  So even if Ashton had not actually cheated on his wife, all the talk and accusations we see in tabloids is still putting the idea of it happening out there.  Additionally, these magazines are always looking for a juicy story and are willing to pay big bucks to get one.  Therefore, all someone would have to do is make a believable argument about how they were involved in an affair with a married celebrity (such as Ashton Kutcher) and one can bet there would be at least one tabloid offering money to print the story.  This type of journalism leads us to believe that not everything we read and see is true and as a result should not jump to conclusions.
